Light is the auspicious way by filling it with oil and placing a cotton string. You can light this earthen diya in whichever way to find convenient. Earthen Diyas are traditional diya and very easy to paint. And the happiness is when you put your own creativity to paint them. I really love to paint diyas. Before you start painting diya the first step is to clean the dust and soak them in water for an hour. Use acrylic colors for painting. Choose vibrant colors and use glitter to highlight the design on them. I chose red and green color to paint diyas.

I have pained some diyas with three color combination. And they really look beautiful.

Making rangoli is an essential thing during the festival of Diwali. The ritual of rangoli goes back to ages and it was believed that rangoli was drawn to bring prosperity and good luck in the house.

Lanterns or akash kandils are the important part of Diwali across India. The windows and doors of each house are lit by bright lights and beautiful decorations, at the centre of which you’ll see a beautiful lantern. But the reason why we hang lanterns is these are essentially a symbol of light. The main idea behind hanging the lantern is to eliminate any darkness and bring forth happiness in everyone’s life.

The lantern also symbolizes Krishna’s victory over the demon Narakasura, and is a form of celebration and happiness.

 While you can easily buy a beautiful akash kandil from the store, but making one with your own creativity is an even better experience as you proudly see your hand-made lanterns hanging high and bright.
